FAD STU student Nikoleta Mitríková received a student award from the Buildner platform for her design of the Vital Park Urpín hospice.
Nikoleta Mitríková achieved success in the Buildner competition for her design of the Vital Park Urpín hospice in Banská Bystrica. This design was also nominated in two categories of the Inspireli Awards 2025. The jury appreciated that she did not view the hospice as a closed institution, but as an open, protected space that is emotionally supportive, spiritually anchored, and architecturally fluid. According to her design, the medical, community, and residential wings are arranged around a green atrium with a chapel designed for contemplation and peace. "I tried to empathize with the project as much as possible and imagine what it would be like actually to stay in such a facility. My goal was to make the material solution and overall concept as pleasant and homely as possible. One of the key elements of the design is maximum connection with the greenery and nature that is abundant in the area."
Nikoleta Mitríková sees competitions as an essential aspect of her studies. She also participates in calls for entries on other platforms. "At this stage of my life, competitions are really important to me. They allow me to gain valuable experience and references and get a different perspective on projects from foreign experts. I definitely recommend them to other students, whether at home or abroad," she said.
