We cordially invite you to the 7th edition of Point for Science, the doctoral conference of the Faculty of Architecture and Design at STU in Bratislava. The event will take place on 18 June 2026 from 10:00 a.m. in Room 117 at the Faculty of Architecture and Design, STU in Bratislava. The programme will also include a poster exhibition during the Night of Architecture and Design on the 3rd floor of FAD STU.
The conference will be held in English and will be moderated by Cornelius Wilhelm van der Westhuizen and Eva Polgaryová, a doctoral student at FAD STU.
The presentations of doctoral research topics will also include a lecture by Benjamin B. Olshin, an interdisciplinary researcher, educator, and artist/designer working in the fields of industrial design, the sociology of science and technology, philosophy, history, and intercultural communication. His current short-term project focuses on research into wirecraft in Slovakia. He views wirecraft as an important intersection of industrial materials, traditional craft philosophies, cultural identity, and visions of the future. According to Benjamin B. Olshin, wirecraft is much more than the production of objects made of wire, whether practical or artistic. It represents a way of thinking about the future.
The format for presenting research work will be a challenge for every participant. Our young researchers will present the results of several years of research effort in just 180 seconds. The aim of the event is to strengthen, in an informal way, the academic, presentation, research, and communication skills of future scientists, as well as their ability to explain their research topic effectively, engagingly, and clearly to anyone, and within a short time.
